Author Spotlight: Kelly Phillips

  • Tell us a little about yourself and what you write.

Kelly Phillips

Hello! I’m Kelly Phillips. I’ve always enjoyed telling stories, and for years would make up bedtime stories for my children or write fan fiction for video games I played. Finally, after much encouragement from my husband, I started developing my own worlds for my own stories. Now I’m a science fiction and fantasy novelist.

  • Tell us about something you wrote.

I have one novel out now, titled Songs of Tarros: Heartsong.  The story takes place far in the future on mankind’s new home of Thelios. Caelynn Creed is a history student wrapping up her final year of studies when a robbery at the museum where she works reveals the truth of her birth and her role in a secret war of magic and technology over the fate of the world.

  • What advice can you offer new writers?

You will have doubts: about your stories, your skill, and your desire to be a writer. Everyone goes through it, even experienced writers. Keep at it and you will overcome your doubts.

  • When is your favorite time to drink tea?

My favorite time to drink tea is in the afternoons. My family used to have afternoon tea together, and I treasured those little breaks.

  • Where can readers find out more about you and your writing?
